The Matchday 21 fixture in the Russian Premier League between Zenit vs Spartak Moscow will take place on 14 March at the Gazprom Arena in Saint Petersburg. Zenit vs Spartak Moscow: prediction, betting odds and statistics.
Zenit
Zenit have taken more penalties than any other side this season – nine in total. In the previous round, the team had two chances to score from the spot, but failed to convert either. The result was a surprise 2:1 defeat to Orenburg, their first loss in their last 16 league matches (11 wins, four draws). It was also only the fourth time in the 2025/26 Russian Premier League season that the club have conceded more than once in a game. Even so, Sergei Semak’s men still boast the second-best defence in the competition. Thanks to Krasnodar dropping points in their own match, Zenit maintained a minimal gap to the leaders in the standings.
- No more than two goals were scored in six of Zenit’s last seven Premier League games.
- At home, the team are on an eight-match winning run in the league.
- In six of their previous eight home matches in this competition, the club kept a clean sheet.
Potential Zenit Lineup (4-5-1)
Denis Adamov – Vanya Drkusic, Douglas Santos, Nino, Gustavo Mantuan – John John, Pedro, Maksim Glushenkov, Wendel, Wilmar Barrios – Aleksandr Sobolev.
Spartak Moscow
Spartak Moscow beat Akron 4:3 at home in the previous round. The club have lost just one of their last six league matches (four wins, one draw), but managed to keep a clean sheet only once during that spell. Overall, the capital side have five clean sheets to their name – even some teams in the bottom half of the standings have a better figure. Spartak Moscow currently sit sixth in the main table. It is also worth noting that the match against Akron was one of the team’s best of the season for shots on target – 10 (average 4.8).
- Both teams scored in five of Spartak Moscow’s previous seven Russian Premier League matches.
- Away from home in this competition, the club scored at least twice in six of their last eight games.
- The team have conceded in six straight away league matches.

Zenit vs Spartak Moscow: Match Prediction
Spartak Moscow have won their first two Russian Premier League matches of the calendar year for the first time since the 2000 season. On the face of it, the club’s fans have reason to celebrate, but the visitors’ defending takes the shine off those results. Sochi, who are among the four lowest-scoring clubs, found the net twice against Juan Carlos Carcedo’s side, and the Tolyatti team went even further. Meanwhile, the clash with Dynamo in the Russian Cup ended with five goals conceded. Against that backdrop, Spartak Moscow now face a trip to a fierce rival, who will have even more motivation after an unexpected defeat in the previous round.
Zenit have not scored more than once since the season resumed, but two of those matches were away from home. At home, however, the hosts scored at least twice in six of their last eight Premier League games. We do not think Sergei Semak’s men will set up for a pragmatic approach in this one. Zenit’s mindset against Spartak Moscow will be special, so they should be able to show their full attacking potential. Moreover, in the first round the home side scored twice against the Moscow club.
Prediction: Zenit, over 1.5 goals
