La Liga’s Matchday 27 clash between Valencia vs Alaves will take place on 8 March at Mestalla. Valencia vs Alaves: prediction, betting odds and statistics.
Valencia
Valencia have recently been alternating between wins and defeats. Last week, the home team edged past Osasuna (1:0), having previously lost to Villarreal (1:2), while a little earlier they collected three points in the away derby against Levante (2:0). Consistency is lacking, but the club are gradually pulling away from the relegation zone and moving closer to mid-table. The gap to 18th place has grown to four points, while just three points separate Valencia from 11th.
- The team have scored in 14 of their previous 15 matches in the Spanish league.
- The club’s all-or-nothing run in this competition has reached seven games (four wins, three defeats).
- Valencia have conceded in five of their last six home games in La Liga.
Potential Valencia Lineup (4-4-2)*
Stole Dimitrievski – Unai Nunez, Eray Comert, Thierry Correia, Jose Luis Gaya – Guido Rodriguez, Javi Guerra, Largie Ramazani, Luis Rioja – Filip Ugrinic, Umar Sadiq.
Goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala, as well as defenders Jose Manuel Copete, Mouctar Diakhaby and Dimitri Foulquier, are unavailable through injury. The participation of striker Lucas Beltran is in doubt.
Alaves
Winter ended for Alaves with an away defeat to Levante (0:2). Following that trip, Alaves’ winless run in La Liga extended to four matches (two draws, two defeats). The visitors have now gone 11 league games without keeping a clean sheet, recording only two wins and nine points in that spell—only Elche and Oviedo have fewer (seven each). As a result, the club have slipped to 16th in the standings, and the board have changed the head coach. Quique Flores is now in charge instead of Eduardo Coudet, having previously worked at Sevilla.
- Since the start of the current La Liga season, Alaves have scored 23 goals—only Getafe (21) and Oviedo (16) have fewer.
- Alaves have won with a (+1.5) handicap in five of their last seven games in this competition.
- The club have failed to win 10 of their last 11 away matches in the league (two draws, eight defeats).
Potential Alaves Lineup (4-4-2)*
Antonio Sivera – Jonny Castro, Victor Parada, Jon Pacheco, Nahuel Tenaglia – Antonio Blanco, Carles Alena, Pablo Ibanez, Angel Perez – Toni Martinez, Lucas Boye.
Defender Victor Parada and midfielder Pablo Ibanez are suspended.

Valencia vs Alaves: Match Prediction
It would be hard to class these sides among those who regularly provide a dazzling spectacle, but dull games involving them are also rare. For instance, at least two goals have been scored in 11 of Valencia’s last 13 matches in La Liga. The same mark has been reached in five of the club’s previous six home games in the Spanish league.
Alaves have become more entertaining over the last few months. Since mid-December, fewer than two goals have been scored in just one of the team’s last 11 La Liga games, and more than half of those matches have been high-scoring. Looking strictly at away league fixtures, we have also seen at least two goals in six of the last seven games.
It is also worth adding that at least three goals have been scored in eight of the previous 10 head-to-head meetings at Valencia’s ground.
Prediction: Over 2 goals
