The Matchday 6 fixture of the 2025/26 Champions League group stage between Union (Belgium) and Marseille (France) will take place on December 9 at Lotto Park in Brussels. Union – Marseille: prediction and betting odds, statistics.
Union
The Belgians produced a surprise in the last round by beating Galatasaray 1-0 on their turf. It was the club's second win in the current group stage and both victories came away from home. Between those wins, the team suffered three defeats. Notably, in Istanbul Union kept a clean sheet for the first time in eight Champions League matches. The club sits 25th on the overall list, losing out to the nearest top-24 rival only on goal difference. Also worth noting: Union are unbeaten in their last three European ties against French opposition (one win and two draws).
- The club has lost six of their previous eight Champions League matches.
- At least three goals were scored in six of Union's last eight games in this competition.
- The team has lost by a clean sheet in each of their three previous home matches in this European campaign.
Predicted line-up for Union (3-4-3)
Kjell Scherpen – Kevin MacAllister, Christian Burgess, Ross Sykes – Anan Khalaily, Rob Schoofs, Adem Zorgane, Usseinu Nyang – Anouar Ait-El-Hadj, Raoul Floruc, Kevin Rodriguez.
Marseille
The French side also won their last game, beating Newcastle 2-1 at home. That was also their second victory in the group stage, but both wins have come at the Stade Vélodrome. In the other three fixtures the club were beaten by narrow margins. Thanks to a superior goal difference, Marseille sit 21st overall with six points. Interestingly, Marseille were unbeaten in six previous European encounters with Belgian clubs (three wins and three draws), keeping a clean sheet in five of those matches.
- The club have gone 31 consecutive Champions League matches without a draw – eight wins and 23 defeats.
- Exactly two or three goals were scored in seven of Marseille's last ten matches in this competition.
- The French side failed to score more than one goal in nine of their last ten away European fixtures.
Predicted line-up for Marseille (3-5-2)
Jeronimo Rulli – Nayef Aguerd, Emerson Palmieri, Amir Murillo – Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Matt O'Riley, Arthur Vermeeren, Timothy Weah, Igor Paixão – Mason Greenwood, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Unavailable through injury: defender Facundo Medina, forward Amin Gouri, and midfielder Hamed Traore.

Match Prediction: Union – Marseille
Union have limited experience at this stage of the Champions League but have produced a couple of surprising results. They have already claimed two victories in the group, both on the road, while failing to take points at home against tough opponents such as Inter and Newcastle. I expect the home side to be highly motivated to deliver a strong performance at Lotto Park as they push to reach the top 24. Marseille, meanwhile, are far more threatening at home than on the road; their away form has been problematic, with 13 defeats in their previous 14 Champions League away games.
I also anticipate a reasonably open, goal‑minded game. Union's European matches have produced at least two goals in seven of their nine ties this campaign. Marseille's fixtures in this competition have also tended to be productive: in 15 of their last 18 Champions League matches two or more goals were scored. Taking everything into account, I favour a combined outcome.
My prediction – 1X and Total Over 1.5
