Copenhagen
The first part of the season of the Danish Superliga ended in December. The last official game before the winter break played by FC Copenhagen was the one against Galatasaray in the Champions League. The Danish side won (1:0) and advanced to the play-offs. Copenhagen played well in the group stage. They gained 8 points, beating Manchester United on one occasion and ended another game against the English side in a draw. They also managed to resist Bayern Munich, ending a game in a goalless draw.
However, the main problem for Copenhagen is that they haven’t played an official game for two months. They have already had several friendlies and participated in an exhibition tournament. But it can’t be compared to a real match.
Manchester City
The Citizens have an unbeaten streak of 12 games in all tournaments. The last time they lost a game was on December 7th (against Aston Villa in the Premier League). The side won the FIFA World Cup title and advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup. Manchester City are currently 2nd in the Premier League, just 2 points behind Liverpool and 1 game to play to have the equal number of the matches played with the Reds. So, potentially, the Citizens even top the league.
The Champions League game is supposed to be an easy walk for the Citizens. They haven’t lost a game in this tournament since May 2022. They have 5 draws and 14 wins in the 19 games played since that moment.
Copenhagen — Man City head-to-head
The teams have had 4 head-to-head games. Surprisingly, two of them ended in draws, including the last one in October 2022. However, previously the Citizens beat the opponent 5:0. I’m pretty sure that Copenhagen will not be able to be an equal opponent to the Citizens in their current form. The Danish side have had a break, being without real practice for quite a long period. Despite the previous results that say that Copenhagen are able to compete, I don’t believe that this is the case.
The Citizens are supposed to win this game to be relaxed in the second match. I don’t think they will score a lot of goals. The home side will be careful playing in defence after all.
